Cadillac Option Codes 1960–1982 — Division Index

Cadillac's option documentation differs from Chevrolet's in two important ways, and both affect how these tables should be read:

  1. Two code schemes. Through the 1960s Cadillac identified options by short accessory order codes (single letters, letter+digit, or digits — e.g. C Cruise Control, K Air Conditioner, 14 radios). Only "body" options appear on the body (cowl) plate. Starting in 1969 Cadillac paperwork began pairing each order code with a corporate GM RPO production code (e.g. K30 Cruise Control, C61 Climate Control), and during the 1970s the production RPO became the code stamped/printed on plates and build sheets. Tables below carry both where sources give both; the Scheme is noted per year section in the model docs. Order-letter assignments were reshuffled almost every year — the RPO is the stable key from 1969 on; the letter is not.
  2. Thinner enthusiast coverage. There is no Cadillac equivalent of the Chevrolet RPO registries. The backbone source here is the Cadillac & LaSalle Club (RRR region) Color, Upholstery & Accessory Database 1940–1979; it ends at 1979. Cross-checking comes from Automotive Mileposts (1967–1979, full-line/Eldorado/Seville pages), the 63/64 Cadillac body-plate decode, ht4100.com (1979–85 Eldorado), and Wikipedia (engine RPOs). GM Heritage Center info kits (1960–1974 Cadillac) exist as free PDFs but are image scans without OCR text — they were downloaded and checked but could not be machine-read; they remain the best lead for anyone hand-verifying a code.

Coverage honesty

Years Coverage Notes
1960–1962 Fair, mostly single-source CLC database only; order codes, no RPOs existed
1963–1964 Good, cross-checked CLC + 63/64 Cadillac body-plate decode
1965–1966 Fair, mostly single-source CLC database only
1967–1970 Good, cross-checked CLC + Automotive Mileposts; order letters conflict between sources for 1969–70 (RPOs agree)
1971–1979 Best coverage CLC (order code + RPO) + Automotive Mileposts (RPO + sales code + price)
1980–1982 Poor — major gap CLC database ends at 1979; Mileposts ends at 1979. Only engine RPOs and a few package codes are verifiable (ht4100.com, Wikipedia). Most 1977–79 comfort/convenience RPOs (K30, N37, T82, CF5, UA6, …) are believed to have carried over, but no per-year 1980–82 source was found to confirm code-by-code — those rows are omitted rather than guessed.
Commercial chassis Notes only See fleetwood.md; factory codes essentially undocumented in enthusiast space

Model documents

Document Models covered Years
deville-calais.md Series 62, DeVille, Calais (full year-by-year line-wide tables live here) 1960–1982
eldorado.md Eldorado Biarritz, Fleetwood Eldorado (FWD 1967+), Eldorado 1979–82 1960–1982
fleetwood.md Sixty Special, Fleetwood Brougham, Fleetwood 75, Talisman, commercial chassis notes 1960–1982
seville.md Seville (K-body 1976–79, bustleback 1980–82) 1976–1982

Because most Cadillac options were line-wide (offered on every series, with per-series standard/optional differences), the complete per-year tables are kept in deville-calais.md; the Eldorado, Fleetwood, and Seville docs list model-specific codes and exceptions and point back for the line-wide sets.
