Oldsmobile 88 / Ninety-Eight (Full-Size) — Option Codes

Covers B-body 88 variants (Dynamic, Super, Jetstar, Delmont, Delta, Royale) and the C-body Ninety-Eight (incl. Regency), plus Custom Cruiser wagons. The 1961–66 full-size Starfire is covered in starfire-omega.md.

Confidence: confirmed (2+ independent sources), single-source, disputed.

Years 1960–1965 — divisional option numbering era

Factory options in this period were ordered under Oldsmobile's own option numbers/names; the 1965 Chassis Service Manual publishes no option list, and none of the CSM-derived compilations reach back before 1965. Documented highlights (names, not RPO codes):

Code Description Years Models/Notes Confidence
Skyrocket 394 CID V-8 (330 hp Starfire-spec optional in Super 88/98) 1961–64 Engine option by name confirmed (feature), n/a (code)
Jetstar I: 345 hp 394, console sports coupe (Starfire running gear at lower price) 1964–65 Marketed model, not an option code confirmed
Police Apprehender packages by name (precursor to B-01/B-07) early 1960s Full-size single-source
Super Economy / standard axle, Hydra-Matic ("Slim Jim" Roto 1961–64) 1960–65 Transmission by name confirmed (feature), n/a (code)

Coverage gap: order-form numbers for 1960–65 full-size options require GM Heritage Center order guides; not reproduced in online sources consulted.
