the optional engine, 88 hp (Wikipedia); Wikipedia's Sunbird Engines list and 122 engine article give it to the J2000/2000/Sunbird 1983–1985, and the Sunbird article says the optional 2.0 L four was dropped for 1986; the VIN letter is from the 1987 NICB Pontiac engine table (1983–1985 columns); 1986 is left out although the 1986 and 1987 NICB Pontiac engine tables print a 2.0 L TBI four (VIN P) in their 1986 column, because those tables are division-wide and name no car line or code
