Pontiac Parisienne — B-body (1983–1989)

Wikipedia says the full-size B-body Parisienne was imported from Oshawa, Ontario and sold in the United States from the 1983 model year as a base four-door sedan and Safari station wagon and a Brougham four-door sedan, that the sedan was dropped after 1986, and that the wagon continued as the Pontiac Safari through 1989. The NICB VIN manuals list the Parisienne (BL) line from 1984 and the Parisienne Brougham (BT) from 1985, as a 4-door sedan (69) and a 4-door wagon (35), and from 1987 print the BL line as "Parisienne, Safari Wagon". No Pontiac RPO list, order guide or Heritage kit is known for these years, so the doc holds only engine codes, each a shared B-body code cited from the Chevrolet Caprice kits where a Parisienne or Safari source names the same engine; three of them (LF9, LB4, LV2) are also printed for this car in Wikipedia's engine articles, while LD5 and LG4 are matched to the car's engines by meaning only. Transmissions, axles, options, trims, paint and interior codes have no source for this car and are not listed.

Codes

Engines

Code Description Years Models/Notes Confidence
LD5 Engine, 3.8L V6, 231 cu in, 2 barrel 1983, 1985 Wikipedia's Parisienne article lists the Buick 231 V6 among the generation's engines without a year and without the code, so the code is matched to the car by meaning and the years are the Caprice kits'; 1984 is left out because the 1984 kit's LD5 line (p.38) has no readable model year and its dated page (p.37) names LD5 only beside LC3; shared B-body code; cited from the Chevrolet Caprice kit ⛭ GM Heritage — 1983 Chevrolet Caprice, p.17 ⛭ GM Heritage — 1985 Chevrolet Caprice, p.40 single-source
