Pontiac Grand Prix — fifth generation, G-body (1983–1987)

The NICB VIN manuals list this rear-drive Grand Prix (printed "Gran Prix") as a 2-door sport coupe in three car lines, the Grand Prix, Grand Prix LJ (shared with the LE from 1985) and Grand Prix Brougham, and Wikipedia adds the 1986-only 2+2 aerodynamic coupe. Engines run from the Buick 3.8L V6 (LD5) throughout, the 5.7L diesel V8 (LF9) to 1984, the Chevrolet 5.0L V8 (LG4) in 1986–1987 (the 305 of 1983–1985 is named without a code), and the fuel-injected 4.3L V6 (LB4) from 1986. No Pontiac order guide, RPO list or Heritage kit for this car is in the archive: the codes come from Wikipedia, an Eighties Cars account of the 1987 brochure, one dealer listing that decodes a 1986 2+2's options, a Conceptcarz 1985 specification page, and the Chevrolet El Camino and Monte Carlo kits, cited only for engine, transmission and axle codes the Grand Prix shares with them on the G-body platform. The options of 1983–1985 and 1987, and every paint and trim code, are a gap in the sources, not a finding that they were not offered.
