    Pontiac Fiero (1984–1988)

    The NICB VIN manuals list the Fiero two-seat coupe (body style 37) for 1984 through 1988: the Value Leader and 2M4 coupe in 1984, and the Value Leader, the 2M4 with the SE and Sport Coupe, and the GT from 1985. No GM factory list or Heritage kit for the Fiero is in the archive, so every row comes from the Fiero Online Service Guide (OSG), an enthusiast compilation (T3), checked against two GM-wide code lists (rparts and Halderman, T3) and against conceptcarz's 1987 and 1988 Fiero option lists (T3). The GM-wide lists confirm a code's meaning only, so a row they support with the OSG alone is single-source; a row is confirmed only where conceptcarz prints the code for every year in its Years cell. The OSG gives model years for some codes only, and codes that no source dates are left out. The OSG's VIN and transaxle pages give the 2.5L L4 (LR8, VIN code R) in every year and the 2.8L V6 (L44, VIN code 9) from 1985, with Muncie 4 speed, Isuzu 5 speed and Muncie-built Getrag 5 speed manual transaxles and the THM 125C automatic.
