Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera — A-body (1982–1996)
The Cutlass Ciera was Oldsmobile's front-drive A-body midsize car for the 1982–1996 model years, a coupe and sedan joined by the Cutlass Cruiser wagon for 1984 (Wikipedia); the 1996 car was called the Ciera SL. The NICB VIN manuals list the Ciera, Ciera LS and Ciera Brougham from 1982, a Cutlass Cruiser wagon, Brougham and SL lines, an International Series from 1988, and S and SL lines from 1992. No Oldsmobile order guide, data book, Heritage kit or service RPO list for the Ciera is in the archive, so the doc lists powertrain codes, three package codes that Wikipedia's Ciera article prints, and a few chassis, comfort and emissions codes. Wikipedia's Ciera article and the engine articles that list the Ciera date the engines and, for LE2, LB6, L82 and LG2, print the code; the Chevrolet Celebrity Heritage kits (its A-body twin) print most of the engine and transmission ordering codes for 1983–1989 and are the only source for the chassis, comfort and emissions rows (C60, F40, F41, G66, J50, K05, UA1, V08, NA5, YF5), which they date for the Celebrity and no Ciera source dates, so all of them are single-source. No source read ties a paint, interior-trim or accessory code to the Ciera, so none is listed.

VIN code 3; multi-port injection 125 hp in 1984–1985, sequential injection 150 hp in 1986–1988, the figures Wikipedia's Ciera table gives; Wikipedia's Buick V6 article lists the Ciera 1984–1988 under its combined LG2/LG3 heading (a slash form, which names neither code) and gives LG3 to VIN code 3 at those outputs, while the Ciera table prints LG2 for the same years and the Ciera infobox labels the engine LG3: a same-year conflict between two codes; sibling gnttype.org Buick VIN table prints LG3 for the 1987 Buick Century (Buick only, used as corroboration) |

1984–1988 |
the code Wikipedia's Ciera engine table prints for the 3.8 L V6 in 1984–1988; Wikipedia's Buick V6 article gives LG2 to VIN code B at 140 hp, not to the 125 and 150 hp figures the Ciera table lists; the Ciera infobox labels the 3.8 L engine LG3, so the article itself prints both codes; see LG3 |
