Cadillac Seville — K-body, front-drive (1983–1985)

Wikipedia dates the second-generation Seville, a front-wheel-drive K-body sedan built on the E-body Eldorado, Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado platform, to 1980 through 1985 (this doc covers only 1983–1985), with production figures for each of 1983, 1984 and 1985. The 1983 and 1984 NICB manuals (1983 p. 28, 1984 p. 28) list a single Seville body, the 4-door sedan, and print a 4.1L V8 with digital fuel injection and a 5.7L V8 diesel among the Cadillac engine symbols; the 1985 manual (p. 29) is cited for the car-line name only. No GM order guide, data book, Heritage kit or RPO list for this Seville is in the archive, so only two engine codes are listed, both from Wikipedia. Both rows are single-source. No source read ties a transmission, axle, package, trim, paint or accessory code to the 1983–1985 Seville with a year.

Codes

Engines

Code Description Years Models/Notes Confidence
LF9 Engine, 5.7L V8 diesel, Oldsmobile 1983–1985 Wikipedia's Seville article lists the LF9 diesel V8 through 1985, so the whole span is dated by that one line; the NICB 1983 and 1984 Cadillac VIN tables print a 5.7L V8 diesel engine symbol but no RPO code, so they do not name the code; Wikipedia's article for the nameplate is one source single-source
LT8 Engine, 4.1L V8, HT-4100 1983–1985 Wikipedia's Seville article lists the LT8 HT4100 V8 through 1985 (135 horsepower), and its Cadillac High Technology engine article calls LT8 the HT-4100 option code and lists the Seville (the same source family, not independent); the NICB 1983 and 1984 Cadillac VIN tables print a 4.1L V8 DFI engine symbol without a code; no Seville-specific source prints the code single-source
