Cadillac Eldorado — E-body (eleventh generation) (1986–1991)
Wikipedia gives the eleventh-generation Eldorado as model years 1986 to 1991, a two-door coupe assembled at Detroit/Hamtramck, with the 4.1L HT-4100 V8 in 1986–1987, a 4.5L V8 in 1988–1990 and the 4.9L L26 V8 in 1991, behind a 4-speed automatic. The NICB manuals list the Eldorado in the 1986 to 1991 tables. No GM order guide, data book, Heritage kit or RPO list for this Eldorado is in the archive, and the brief names no Chevrolet twin kit, so only two codes are listed, both engines and both single-source: the 1986–1987 HT-4100 (LT8) and the 1991 engine (L26). Wikipedia names no RPO code for the 1988–1990 4.5L engine or for the transmissions, and no source read ties any transmission, axle, package, paint or trim code to this Eldorado with a year.
Codes
Engines
| Code | Description | Years | Models/Notes | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LT8 | Engine, 4.1L V8, High Technology HT-4100 | 1986–1987 | Wikipedia's Eldorado article names the HT-4100 V8 for 1986–1987 in the eleventh-generation infobox, and its Cadillac High Technology engine article gives LT8 as the HT-4100's option code and lists the Eldorado (the two articles are one source); no Buick or Oldsmobile E-body used this engine, so there is no sibling source | single-source |
| L26 | Engine, 4.9L V8, multiport fuel injection | 1991 | Wikipedia's Eldorado article names the L26 4.9L V8 as the 1991 engine and says 1991 brought Cadillac's 4.9 liter port fuel injection V8, and its Cadillac High Technology engine article lists the Eldorado under L26 (the two articles are one source); decoderpo.com's GM-wide dictionary reads L26 as the 4.9L (4.9B) V8 with multiport fuel injection but names no vehicle or year (it also prints a second, 3.8L V6 sequential fuel injection reading for L26, which is no Cadillac meaning), so it checks the meaning only; no Cadillac-specific source prints the code beyond Wikipedia | single-source |
