Buick Park Avenue — C-body (first generation) (1991–1996)

The first-generation Park Avenue was Buick's front-drive C-body four-door sedan for the 1991–1996 model years, built at Wentzville, Missouri from 1991 to 1994 and at Flint, Michigan (Buick City) from 1994 to 1996, with a 4 speed 4T60-E automatic (Wikipedia). The NICB VIN manuals list the Park Avenue (series CW) and Park Avenue Ultra (CU) in every year from 1991 to 1996, as the Electra Park Avenue and Electra Park Avenue Ultra in the 1991–1994 manuals. No GM order guide, data book, Heritage kit or service RPO list for this Park Avenue is in the archive, and the C-body has no Chevrolet twin whose kit could be cited, so only the three engine codes Wikipedia names and dates are listed. Wikipedia's Oldsmobile 98 and Buick V6 articles give the same three engines to the Oldsmobile Ninety Eight, the C-body sibling, but they are Wikipedia too and add no independent source; the Cadillac de Ville article's C-body years name only the 4.9L V8 and the 4T60 family, with no shared code. No source read ties a transmission, axle, option, package, paint or trim code to this car with a year, and those are a gap in the sources, not a finding that the car lacked them.

Codes

Engines

Code Description Years Models/Notes Confidence
L27 Engine, 3800 3.8L V6, multiport fuel injection 1991–1994 the naturally aspirated 3800 Series I, 170 hp, the base engine; every year from Wikipedia's Park Avenue infobox and its Buick V6 article, which both give L27 to the Park Avenue for 1991–1994 (the V6 article calls the induction tuned port injection); shared C-body engine: the Oldsmobile 98 article's infobox and the V6 article's 1992–1994 Ninety Eight entry name it for the sibling, but both are Wikipedia, so the row stays single-source; the description follows the merged regal-w-body-1988 doc single-source
L67 Engine, 3800 3.8L V6, supercharged 1992–1996 Ultra only; the Series I engine for 1992–1995 (205 hp to 1993, 225 hp for 1994–1995) and the Series II for 1996 (240 hp); 1992–1996 from Wikipedia's Park Avenue infobox and its Buick V6 article; 1991 is left out because the Park Avenue article's text gives the Ultra the supercharged engine only from 1992, while its infobox and the V6 article start it in 1991; shared C-body engine: the Oldsmobile 98 article and the V6 article date the sibling Ninety Eight's supercharged engine 1992–1995, which supports no Park Avenue year beyond the row's, and both are Wikipedia, so the row stays single-source single-source
L36 Engine, 3800 Series II 3.8L V6 1995–1996 the naturally aspirated Series II, 205 hp, replacing L27 for 1995; both years from Wikipedia's Park Avenue infobox, and its Buick V6 article gives the Park Avenue the L36 from 1995; shared C-body engine: the Oldsmobile 98 article's infobox and the V6 article's 1995–1996 Ninety Eight entry name it for the sibling, but both are Wikipedia, so the row stays single-source; the description follows the merged regal-w-body-1988 doc single-source
