    Chevrolet Sprint — first generation (1985–1988)

    The Sprint of 1985–1988 is a small front-wheel-drive hatchback with a transverse 1.0L three-cylinder engine; the 1987 MVMA specification form names Suzuki Motor Co. of Hamamatsu, Japan, as its manufacturer. The 1985 dealer order guide offers one model, the 2-door hatchback coupe (1MR08); the 1986 guide adds the Sprint ER coupe (1MS08) and the Sprint Plus 4-door hatchback sedan (1MR68), and the MVMA forms list the 2-door and 4-door hatchbacks with a Sprint ER and a Turbo Sprint for 1987 and a Sprint Metro and a Turbo Sprint for 1988; NICB's 1987 and 1988 manuals list Sprint and Sprint ER series. The 1987 and 1988 kits are MVMA specification forms that print only the base engine's code LM9, so every other code rests on the 1985 and 1986 order guides and brochure pages, and no source shows it after 1986. The kits' OCR is poor: a code the pages print only in a form other than an O/0 or I/1 swap (832 for B32, 205 for Z05, YFS for YF5) is not claimed for that year, and the guides give paint as two-digit color numbers and interior trim as four-character combinations, so only the two-tone paint option D84 is listed for color.
