    Chevrolet Malibu — fourth generation, A-body (1983)

    In 1983 the Malibu was sold as a 4-door sedan (1GW69) and a 4-door station wagon (1GW35): the 1983 dealer order guide gives both models, and NICB's 1983 manual lists the Malibu sedan and wagon (series W) with no coupe and no Malibu Classic that year. Every row comes from the 1983 GM Heritage Center kit: the dealer order guide (revised 2-1-83), the wagon brochure's paint and wheel-trim pages, the fleet special equipment pages for the Malibu and 108-inch wheelbase wagons, and the MVMA specification pages, which cover the Monte Carlo, Malibu and El Camino together. The engines are the 3.8L V6s (LC3, and LD5 on the California wagon), the 4-barrel 5.0L V8 (LG4) and the 5.7L V8 (LF9) and 4.3L V6 (LT6) diesels; the MVMA pages list only a 3-speed automatic, with no RPO code for it. Two-digit paint codes and the four-character interior trim codes in the guide are not listed, and a few fleet codes are left out: those whose wording the OCR loses, and those whose own entry is misprinted and which are printed correctly only inside other options' text (taxi equipment 9C6, the 55/45 bench 6B8, the police instrument cluster 7Z2 and police speedometer 7Z9), and two (6H5, 6Z1) whose names the Malibu pages do not print.
