    Chevrolet Impala — sixth generation, B-body (1983–1985)

    In 1983–1985 the Impala was the lower series of Chevrolet's full-size B-body line, beside the Caprice Classic: the 1983 kit lists it as the 1BL69 4-door sedan next to the Caprice Classic sedan and wagon, NICB's 1983–1985 manuals print the Impala line, and Wikipedia says the Impala coupe and wagon were dropped after 1982 and the name after 1985. The 1983 rows are engines only, from the MVMA specification pages of the 1983 Impala kit. The 1984 and 1985 rows come from MVMA pages bound into the Caprice kits: the 1984 power-teams page (5) for LC3, LD5 and LF9, the 1985 engine and transmission page (18) for LF9 and LB4, and the optional-equipment weight pages for the rest; those pages cover the whole line, and only codes they give for the 1BL69 sedan or for all models are kept here. The engines run from the 3.8L V6s (LC3 and LD5, to 1984), the 4-barrel 5.0L V8 (LG4) and the 5.7L diesel (LF9) to the 1985 4.3L V6 (LB4); and the police 5.7L V8 (LM1, 1985); the 1985 weight sheets also list the 3.8L V6 (LD5) for the sedan, but the 1985 power-teams and engine pages do not, so LD5 is not claimed for 1985.
