    Chevrolet El Camino — fifth generation, G-body (1983–1987)

    The El Camino of 1983–1987 was a three-passenger sedan pickup (model 1GW80), sold as the base model and the Z15 SS Sport Decor, with the D91 Conquista and, in 1983, the Z16 Royal Knight options. Every factory-cited row comes from the GM Heritage Center kit for its year: the El Camino/Caballero dealer order guides (power teams, option pages and color charts), the 1983 and 1987 model-selector pages (1983 p.1, 1987 p.15) and the 1984 and 1987 engine pages; one 1987 transmission code (MV9) rests only on a VIN legend page of unclear provenance bound into the 1987 kit, so it carries no factory citation and is single-source. The order guides cover the El Camino and the GMC Caballero together, so GMC-only items (the 1983 YE7 Diablo) are left out; from 1984 the same Z15 code is the Caballero's Diablo Decor. Engines are the 3.8L V6 LC3 (1983–1984, with LD5 in California), the 4.3L LB4 V6 (1985–1987), the 5.0L LG4 V8 (1983–1987) and the 5.7L LF9 diesel (1983–1984), all with automatic transmissions; Wikipedia lists Arlington (to 1984) and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico (1985–1987) among its plants and ends production in late 1987. The kits' OCR loses many codes in single years; those years are left out and named in Notes. Solid paints are given as two-digit color numbers and trim as four-character combinations, which are not listed; the 1983–1985 color charts also print must-be-ordered two-tone accent colors with an M suffix (15M, 27M), which are listed under Paint.
